Tryba Architects honored with Preservation Award

Tryba Architects and Aimco are being awarded with the 2017 Grand Jury Award from the Preservation Society of Greater Philadelphia for their conservation efforts on Park Towne Place.

Park Towne Place Museum District Residences are once again among the premier multi-family communities in Center City Philadelphia. Composed of four 18-story towers arranged around a central great lawn the property is the first mid-century modern multi-family community to in Pennsylvania to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Preservation, compatible new design and enlivened programming have transformed the community into a vibrant campus.

Major rehabilitation included restoration of the building envelope, new openings and circulation paths, reimagined amenities including a 20,000 sq. ft. retail center and 943 fully renovated and reconfigured apartments with living spaces oriented toward spectacular city and river views. The more than $200 million historic rehabilitation restored Park Towne to its former grandeur providing an exceptional high-rise living experience in a park-like environment.

The Preservation Achievement Awards event is an annual celebration of the individuals, organizations, businesses and projects that exemplify outstanding achievement in the field of historic preservation throughout the region. The annual event is the largest gathering of preservationists in the Philadelphia area.
