Scope of Work

Brand Positioning, Graphic Identity, Experiential Design

Positioned at the tip of Boston’s Rose Kennedy Greenway, One Canal is located in the emerging Bulfinch Triangle Historic District. The graphic identity is a contemporary expression of the mercantile canal around which the historic neighborhood was developed over 200 years earlier. Soft fluid shapes in shades of blue are contained within a simple numeral one, the property’s address. A colorful glass ‘lantern’ helps establish a welcoming gateway to Canal Street. Inside, a warm palette of oxidized and polished bronze creates a sense of elevated comfort while referencing the site’s industrial past with stenciled cut-through numerals.

Designed to engage long views up the Greenway, a tracery of decks and bays wraps the 12-story building to dissolve the interior/exterior boundary. The upper levels feature 310 luxury apartments, each with high-end finishes and open living areas. Amenity spaces are distributed throughout the building and include a state-of-the-art fitness center, courtyard community space, pavilion firepit, and a rooftop pool and movie screening space.
